Once again Paul "ReDeYe" Chaloner is in the news, this time being the star of The Clanbase Report for Monday June 18th. Once again ReDeYe talks about the Championship Gaming Series, aswell as answering a number of other questions on his shoutcasting career. Clanbase: At this point I’d like to bring up a recent quote of yours: “I’m trying to help gaming grow, we all win that way, there are too many people in this for their own benefit and they don’t realize that they won’t achieve anything unless gaming grows too” – It’s so damn true, and sometimes I wonder if some of the “flamers” in the community realize how detrimental they are to the growth of e-Sport – How do you feel about that?
ReDeYe: I don’t see flamers as being detrimental to gaming in principle, they have just as valid opinion as anyone, but sometimes gaming can seem (to an outside) as very immature and the issue is, IT IS! We are lucky that gaming transcends color, religion, creed, national borders and continues to draw people together into a small world of their own, especially when it comes to game communities. It is hardly surprising that some will flame CGS or any other league for that matter, if their game doesn’t get the coverage or doesn’t get used.
Sometimes I get upset by the amount of flame, but I think sometimes we forget that in gaming, not everyone wants it to go big and professional and have TV coverage and that’s another set of players and another set of opinions we need to respect. Gaming is still at the end of the day a fun hobby to a lot of people and there is nothing wrong with that either, just as there is nothing wrong with wanting it to grow and be on TV.
